The Magician displays sitting on the table a relatively small presentation box. The lid is removed and inside the presentation box are two brass cylinders. One has a red spot on top and the other has a green spot on top.

You turn your back to the audience and ask a participant to select one of the brass cylinders, remove the lid and place a personal item, such as a ring, inside. The lid is replaced and the cylinder is also placed back into the presentation box and the lid is placed on top.

Even without turning around, you make your 'psychic connection' with the participant, delving into their mind, you tell them which brass cylinder they placed their ring (or whatever) into.

The effect is as clean and as simple as that. If you are a mentalist or psychic entertainer, or if you are a magician that can act a little then this is a killer effect. Which can be a reputation maker.
